Firelight Media, in partnership with Indie Grits Labs, and South Carolina ETV introduce Groundwork: a new initiative that aims to expand the pipeline of independent diverse makers from the South and the Midwest by providing an introduction to the opportunities that exist in the documentary landscape. Our goal is to help diverse filmmakers become more competitive for regional and national programs.
Please join us on Saturday, July 28, from 4:30-6:00pm at SCETV (1041 George Rogers Boulevard) for a panel introducing the work of Firelight Media & local organizations, as well as exploring local and regional initiatives and opportunities for filmmakers. Panelists include Chloë Walters – Wallace, Documentary Lab Manager at Firelight Media, Seth Gadsden, Director of Indie Grits Labs, Don Godish, Senior Director of Content at SCETV. The discussion will be moderated by N’Jeri Eaton, Sr. Manager of Programming Acquisitions at NPR.
Reception at 6:15pm with light refreshments to follow. Both events are free and open to the public.
About the Firelight Media Documentary Lab:
Firelight’s Documentary Lab is the only program of its kind dedicated to diverse documentary filmmakers. During an 18-month fellowship, filmmakers receive one-on-one mentorship, funding, professional development workshops and networking opportunities.

Panel will take place at the Idea Lab at SCETV (1041 George Rogers Boulevard). Parking available in the front of the building. Head to the front office and sign in with the guard, who will direct you to the Idea Lab.
