Three days of FREE programs open to the public, aimed at supporting filmmakers currently working in the documentary and the doc-narrative hybrid field. Indie Grits has identified the need to be more than an exhibitor of emerging and established Southern voices. Filmmaker Focus is an open space for dialogue and collaboration in which filmmakers can find support in every level of their projects from pre-production to post. Work-in-progress screenings, panels, workshops, and more make this festival track a unique, resourceful experience for filmmakers and film-lovers alike.
Get ahead of schedule by purchasing a festival pass! With over 100 films, and a slew of art, music, and tech events around downtown Columbia this year, we are excited to share with you what we have in store for our fourteenth annual festival. Our official schedule drops March 01, 2020! $100 for Nickelodeon Theatre members and $150 for the general public. Festival passes grant you full access to the festival—film screenings, puppet slams, music, and more.
In 2019-2020 the Indie Grits Labs Fellowship program is focusing on current News & Media Literacy issues facing our local Southern communities through the “Real Fiction Project.” 2020 promises a reality in which false information travels faster and more abundantly than factual information. Truth finds itself sliding on an unstable spectrum, and conspiracy theories thrive in ever increasing “news deserts” in our local, Southern communities. Media artworks based on this theme will be revealed by the Fellowship during the 2020 Indie Grits Festival.
