Festival Internship

We are looking for awesome interns eager to discover the ins-and-outs of running South Carolina’s best independent film festival. As an intern, you will work closely with festival directors, and you will have plenty of opportunity to learn new skills and showcase your talent by taking on projects and making them your own. Experience in video production and editing, the Google Office Suite, and Worpress are a plus.  Responsibilities may include:

  • Maintaining social media accounts (Facebook, Twitter, Instagram)
  • Video & photography documentation during events
  • Editing videos from the festival archive
  • Copy editing and proofreading
  • Event planning and logistics
  • Distributing festival posters, flyers, and guides (must have reliable transportation)
  • Working long hours during the 2020 Indie Grits Film Festival, March 26-29, 2020
  • Other duties as assigned by Festival Director

Media Education Internship

In addition to running our yearly festival, Indie Grits Labs runs media education programming through our after school programs, adult workshops, and media literacy lab field trips. We are looking for qualified candidates with experience in video production, audio production, editing, media theory, and education that are interested in working with students of all ages to create and engage with media in a critical fashion. Responsibilities include:

  • Assist students with pre-production, production, & post-production
  • Work closely with instructors to aid with in-class instructions
  • Assist faculty and volunteers with student engagement and services
  • Maintain and supervise student equipment
  • Digital management of student files and projects
  • Assist students with project research and development
  • Video & photography documentation
  • Help develop curricula built around media literacy
  • Research films, television shows, and other forms of media that are educational and suitable for lessons
  • Work closely with instructors to aid with in-class instructions
  • Assist instructors with preparation for lessons


Adult Workshop Instructors

 

Want to teach a class? Submit a class proposal! We offer a full slate of adult workshops for ages 15 and up throughout the year, and are always wanting to connect with members of the community who would like to instruct a workshop. All classes take place at Indie Grits Labs and vary in length and duration—one workshop may meet once a week for four weeks, whereas another workshop may only meet once.
